Lethargy is basically a state of sluggishness, fatigue, and indifference. It can develop as a  result of  overworking,  chronic stress,  inadequate sleep, overexertion,  a  lack of physical activity, and even boredom. If you always wake up tired and that feeling lasts for hours or throughout the entire day, there’s a good chance that you’re lethargic. In that case, you should consider taking these five simple steps:

1. Identify underlying health problems.

Lethargy is actually one of the most common symptoms of serious diseases such as arthritis,  diabetes and  heart disease.  There are  also medications can  also cause recurring bouts of laziness and fatigue. Antihistamines, diuretics, and blood pressure medicine are  some examples.  If you  feel rundown  after taking a new medication,  be sure to consult your doctor.

2. Fix your sleep cycle.

Spells of  lethargy that  last throughout  the day  are almost  always the  result of unhealthy sleeping patterns. In addition to causing dullness, listlessness, and apathy, bad sleeping habits can ultimately lead to anxiety and depression. If you don’t go to bed and wake up at the same time, or get at least seven hours of uninterrupted sleep each night, be sure to check out my tips for improving sleep quality.

3. Eat healthier foods.

The vitamins and minerals you can get from a diet full of whole, organic and minimally processed superfoods can  help eliminate  lethargy and  increase your  vigor. Start adding antioxidant-rich foods to your diet and eat smaller meals more frequently. To make  sure your  diet doesn’t fall short  in the  nutrition department,  try high-quality supplements like a natural antioxidant superfood powder.

4. Exercise more often. When you’re feeling tired and worn out, the last thing you may want to do is work out. But this is actually one of the most effective ways to boost your energy levels. Regular exercise will not only enhance the efficiency of your muscles,  heart , and  lungs  but also improve your outlook and quality of life. If you don’t know how to fit exercise into your schedule, find out how to make more time for it. And of course, be sure to ease your way into it.
