What makes someone reluctant to express their uniqueness? I can think of a few good answers, but the one that truly applies to most people is the environment they grow up in. Unfortunately, many of us are shaped by a society that limits the way we think, talk and act. The conditioning of most people is responsible for their unending conformity to society’s every expectation, and this thing we call the ego or the “Artificial You” overpowers the person they truly are.

But you know what? You should not let social norms limit the way you live your life. Express your uniqueness because that’s what you’re here on this planet to do!

The coolest thing about uniqueness is YOU.  Your physiology and looks are unique. Your ideas, beliefs and values are unique. Nobody else in the entire universe looks, thinks and acts exactly the same as you. You are absolutely awesome in your own skin. When your uniqueness is bursting to come out, express it.

What steps can you take to start expressing your uniqueness?

“What inspires and motivates me?”

Ask yourself this important question. You need to pay close attention to the things that make you feel like time and space are nonexistent.  What hobbies and activities empower you to express the REAL YOU? What inspires you to be better than you were yesterday? Those are the things you need to focus on.

Surround yourself with inspiration.

Spend time with those that inspire you – friends, family and colleagues who encourage and motivate you to be the best you can be. Sometimes, immersing in the positive energy of other people can be a very huge step towards realising the very qualities, values and beliefs that make you unique.

Acknowledge the effects of your actions.

What momentous events have happened in your life when you mustered your confidence, took a step outside of your comfort zone, and did something that’s genuinely and authentically YOU? I’m sure those events made you feel empowered, determined and fulfilled, and helped you learn, grow and live a more confident life! This should be enough reason not to shy away from expressing the things that make you who you are.

We are at our best when we are able to express to the world the things that make us unique. Your uniqueness is what makes you special, so don’t keep it to yourself. As long as it doesn’t hurt anyone and if it’s good for you and everyone around you, don’t hesitate to show it to the world.
