What is calorie reduction and what makes it important?
Calorie reduction is basically a dietary regimen that involves intentionally reducing our calorie intake. When done over a long period of time, it can improve our energy, quality of life and longevity. Calorie reduction is also known as caloric restriction, but let’s not call it that. You see, we’re not actually restricted by anything that’s happening — we’re actually designing the way we want to eat in order to achieve optimal health.
We all know that we become what we eat and absorb. Unfortunately, the average person in the western world consumes too many calories and not enough nutrients. If we cut those extra calories by saying no to unhealthy food-like products and eating more nutrient-dense foods, we would be doing our internal systems and ourselves a huge favour. In a general sense, consuming fewer calories can help us become healthier, more vibrant, and more alive!
